Calling all sponsors and potential sponsors. It’s time to act.
We’d like to thank two new sponsors:
Urban Properties, a property management company in the OTR district of downtown. Cool people helping make affordable living in OTR. Check them out at https://www.facebook.com/UrbanPropOTR?fref=ts
And O’Malley’s In The Alley: Home to Thursday night bike nights downtown Cincinnati.
If you haven’t heard yet, we have an art show as part of our rally. 8 local artists are painting helmets provided by the Cincinnati Cafe Racer club and Mighty Ohio Scooter club. They each have put their own personal artistic style into the designs and have enjoyed working on a round three dimensional canvas instead of the traditional flat media. We like to help meld the two worlds of art and moto together into what is shaping up to be a very unique art show on May 17th – July 15th.
The show will be held at the Art Beyond Boundaries gallery in OTR downtown Cincinnati on Main street. The gallery immediately loved the idea when they heard us pitch it at the OTR chamber meeting and asked to combine it with their upcoming “No Nudes is Good Nudes” show. Since that show focuses on the human form, the helmets make a great extension of the existing show. And so, a partnership was formed. The gallery focuses most of their shows on artists with disabilities. Their mission is a unique and great way to give back to the community while enjoying beautiful art.
The helmets will be shown opening night to the general public on May 17h with a special scooter and motorcyclist reception on May 30th. Please come out and enjoy the show and complimentary treats. The helmets will then be auctioned off on Saturday June 1st at the Mods & Rockers Throwdown event held at 9pm on main street at Mixx. A live auctioneer will bring a festive atmosphere to the auction and you’ll be able to bid on the helmets and meet the artists. We are hopeful that most winning bidders will allow us to keep the helmets in the show until the close on July 15th (but we understand if you just have to take it home).
Also on the evening of the rally many of the artists from the Ghost Empire Collective will have a live art experience at the Mods & Rockers Throwdown. Come see how they make art that transforms!
More photos and details on the contest page.
We hope you’ll embrace our local art community the way you have embraced our local scooter & motorcycle community. Come out and enjoy some ART & MOTO.
Join us for our Pin-up Girl contest held and organized by our new sponsor: Retrocentric – Cincinnati’s place for pinups at the Saturday evening event on June 1st 2013. We’re looking for ladies that are dressed to compete in retro influenced 40′s-60′s era pin-up or mod style attire. The judges will make the final decision so feel free to show your personal style.
So take some time and start planning out what you’re going to compete in! This will be a fun show!
The ladies at Retrocentric studios are hosting the contest. Pin Up model “Coco Collette” will host the event and the winner will be crowned by last year’s winner “Sara“. Prizes include a photo shoot with Retrocentric and more.

The good folks at Wild Berry incense up the road in Oxford Ohio (home to Miami University) are our latest sponsors! They will be providing some free samples to all registered attendees with the All Access Passes (swag bag comes with All Access). You’ll get to sample their sweet smelling goods
The next time you see them, tell them Thank You for sponsoring the rally and making it fun for everyone!
Congratulations to Jeff Hinkle who’s submission to our contest was chosen as the winner. A panel of judges met last night at Mecklenburg Gardens and reviewed all of the spectacular designs and discussed the pros / cons of each over a pint. And I have to say that my first choice going into the meeting changed after everyone gave their input. The winning design was unanimous with a second design to possibly be used for an additional t-shirt that can be purchased at the event.
All of the designs submitted were of high quality and the decision making process took quite a bit of back and forth discussion. Many had elements we enjoyed and we thank everyone for their contribution.
We are excited to work with Jeff and think he captured the feeling we were going for with our rally. Hats off!
We are also partnered with SouthPaw Prints on Main street to do the hand silk screening of the shirts. They do terrific work and did our shirts last year too. These guys ride and print… a great combo.
Many entries have been rolling in for the design contest (details here: Design Contest). We have posted them on Pinterest for you to preview before final judging. The pinterest board is located at:
Design submission deadline is Feb 28th, 2013

About the Cincinnati Café Racer
This event is hosted by the Cincinnati Café Racer motorcycle club (http://www.cincinnaticaferacer.com), whose goal it is to build community around the café and vintage motorcycle culture, and elevate Cincinnati’s position in the national motorcycle scene. The club has also partnered with the scooter clubs in the area to provide an event for all two-wheeled motoring enthusiasts. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Change Of Heart Support Group charity (http://www.changeofheartsupport.org), a local heart transplant support organization.
This year at the 2013 rally you will have the opportunity to win a custom cafe racer motorcycle from the Cincinnati Cafe Racer club. The bike is named “Barbarossa” and is a 1978 Honda CB750. Currently being built by volunteers with the help of sponsors and member donations.
Barbarossa refers to the legend of Fredrick the first, holy Roman emperor. The Legend says he is not dead, but asleep with his knights in a cave in the Kyffhäuser mountain in Bavaria, Germany, and that when the ravens cease to fly around the mountain he will awake and restore Germany to its ancient greatness. According to the story, his red beard has grown through the table at which he sits. His eyes are half closed in sleep, but now and then he raises his hand and sends a boy out to see if the ravens have stopped flying. Barbarossa was also a type of beer brewed in Cincinnati nearly a hundred years ago by the now defunct Red Top brewery and more recently by Christian Moerlein brewers in Cincinnati. So to celebrate our brewing heritage in Cincinnati we’ve given a nod to the legend that this bike will become.
Our CB750 cafe racer build starts with a good non running candidate acquired cheaply and the parts are being provided at cost by Steve’s Garage and other sponsors. Our members and friends are donating funds to cover the costs, providing volunteer time and labor to do the repairs and creative touches needed to make this a bike we can all be proud of. You can also get involved by donating to the bike build fund or sponsoring the entire build. Sponsorship will get your company name painted onto the tank or other prominent portion of the bike. All donations are greatly appreciated. The proceeds from the raffle go towards the Change of Heart charity and to cover the expenses of the rally.
Photos of the bike as it’s being built will be posted soon. A photo of what the bike could look like:
Rules of the raffle: You must be present to win. Nobody likes it when someone from out of state doesn’t even come to the event and wins the bike. So please come to the rally and win this bike! You can buy multiple tickets and enter as many times as you like to improve your odds of winning.
Raffle Tickets: $5 each
